These recipes are a work in progress. I'll try to add at least one recipe a day. I have tried each one. The test of a good recipe is if your family likes it. These recipes have passed that test.
I am rearranging as I go here. Trying to figure what works the best and makes it easiest for you to find what you're looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
The recipe index will be in sections as more recipes are added. Right now, as I'm building the site and have so few recipes added, it's simpler just to list them as they are added. I didn't realize how little I used written recipes and simply cooked by memory. I have to actually cook the meal and write each step down in order to remember them. It's taking a little time.

ABOUT SUBSTITUTES
- I frequently substitute called for ingredients. Either I don't have or can't afford the required ingredient or I just don't think my family would like it. When it comes to herbs and spices, the best thing to remember is smell. If it smells good, odds are it will be appealing. Try to imagine that smell with the smell of your current cooking experience. If they meld well, it should be okay.
- I didn't realize, until I started writing it down, how much I cook with chicken broth. It's a healthier and tastier alternative to butter, especially if you use the low fat or low sodium varieties like I do. Bouillon cubes are cheaper then chicken broth but the sodium is really off the charts. I have never really had to the time to make my own broth and put it up for later use. My hat's off to you if you do that. I buy the store brand to save money.
- I also use 2% evaporated milk instead of cream. Feel free to use cream if that's your preference.
